The College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences seeks a creative, skilled, and versatile Marketing and Communications Manager. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Manager will play a critical role in promoting the initiatives, research, and promise of a dozen academic departments, two schools, three ROTC programs, and several centers, in addition to telling representational stories of more than 500 faculty members, 3,000 students, and 60,000 alumni. The Manager will write and produce content for the college website, an alumni enewsletter, a college enewsletter, the Virginia Tech news site, social media outlets, media advisories, and marketing collateral. The Manager will also create content for — and serve as the associate editor of — Illumination, the College's annual digital and print magazine. The Manager will further expand the College's social media presence and supervise a team of student ambassadors.
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or a related field or equivalent training and/or experience. - Professional experience as a writer, reporter, or communicator, and a portfolio of work that exhibits strong writing skills. - Experience working with content management systems. - Keen attention to detail. - Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. - An appreciation of the value of the liberal arts and human sciences in ensuring a strong and comprehensive university.
- Experience working with desktop-publishing and graphics-editing software, such as InDesign and Photoshop. - Experience managing professional social media platforms. - Graphic design experience. - Strong photography and videography skills. - Higher education experience.
