Calvin College Communications & Marketing is seeking a Web Marketing Coordinator to support the academic mission of the college. By developing compelling academic content and using web-based technologies, this position helps to promote the academic work of Calvin College for both internal and external audiences, including current and prospective students and faculty as well as the college’s constituent audiences and colleagues in higher education around the world. The Marketing Coordinator also supports the work of academic departments across the college through collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening the academic web presence of the college.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Academic Division Web Strategy. In consultation with the academic council and the Web team, develop a clear and concise strategy to promote the academic mission of the college. The strategy will be aligned with the college’s mission and strategic plan, will clearly define the message(s) to be communicated, the audience(s), the method(s), the timing, and measurable goals for regular assessment.
Continuously write and publish timely content that highlights the activities and accomplishments of faculty, students, departments, and centers and institutes. Work closely with colleagues in the media relations and communications and marking departments to make public the college’s wealth of intellectual resources.
Web Project Coordination. Develop and continually update content, design, and functionality across web pages for departments and programs of the academic division. In coordination with faculty and program directors, research, write, and edit content for pages. Train departmental representatives to maintain pages. Assist the Provost’s Office administrative support team with web pages about division-wide initiatives.
Web Team Liaison. Serve as the academic division representative on the Calvin Web team and other committees within and outside the division relating to the college’s electronic presence. As determined by the Web team, provide project assistance with the college’s top-level web pages.
Accreditation Assurance. Work with the dean for institutional effectiveness and colleagues in all campus divisions to assure that college web pages meet accreditation standards.
This position does not direct the work activities of other staff members but may supervise 1-2 students.
A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, a Master’s degree is preferred
1-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong organization and written communication and interpersonal skills required
Knowledge of web and graphic design and experience with the related software is required
