The Marketing and Communications Manager is a 12 month appointment at 0.75 FTE (30 hours per week) and is responsible for outreach, marketing, development and communication efforts for the School of Social Work. Reporting to the Dean, this position works closely with the School's administrative leadership team, the PSU Foundation, faculty and staff as well as others in the broader PSU community. The manager maintains an annual marketing plan and consults with academic and research units on their implementation of recruitment and enrollment initiatives and alumni engagement through marketing, communication channels and strategic events. The manager works closely with the PSU Foundation to manage school-based fundraising programs, including gift acknowledgement, stewardship and development programs that support the annual fund and endowed gifts. The manager supervises one or more student employees. Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to): Event coordination, alumni relations, marketing and communications.
Bachelor’s Degree - 3+ years of related experience. - Excellent database and spreadsheet computer skills required. - Experience in development(fundraising) activities required. - Experience leading and coordinating department level communications and marketing initiatives and programs. - Strong attention to detail required. -Successful completion of a background check.
- Demonstrate interest in and ability to realize the mission, values, and vision of the School of Social Work, particularly those with knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to racial equity and related frameworks. -Ability to effectively manage multiple projects; -Experience with higher education and graduate programs preferred; -Strong oral and written communication skills; -Demonstrated ability in event coordination, administration, and supervision; -Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people in a variety of settings, in particular with faculty, alumni, students, donors and business professionals; -Goal orientation, adaptability and flexibility; -Advanced skills in time management; - Knowledge of web content management platforms and social media applications; -Knowledge or experience with graphic design; -Proactive, creative, innovative self-starter.
