The Office of Distance Education and eLearning serves a central role in supporting the colleges and departments who offer online instruction. Just as instruction needs adapted for online platforms, so does marketing. The Ohio State Online marketing team promotes visibility for the Ohio State Online portfolio of learning opportunities. These communicators also partner with staff in the academic units to support the college-level marketing of online offerings.
A new marketing strategist will join the Ohio State Online marketing team to support the growing number of Ohio State's distance education offerings. The marketing strategist will serve as a consultant and support service for the college level administrative staff. As a representative of ODEE, (s)he will deliver digital marketing strategy consultation services, web optimization support for improved user experience and lead generation from the college's websites, and insights for data-driven marketing decisions. (S)he will also develop the presence of online offerings on the Ohio State Online website, in the form of program and certificate web pages as well as promotional videos created in collaboration with ODEE's Media Services team. The Strategist will provide marketing consultation to the college-level clients, and must have a broad range of experience utilizing and assessing the performance of various advertising platforms.
Storytelling is at the heart of this role, and the strategist will use a broad range of channels to share our stories, with an emphasis on digital storytelling in written and multimedia forms. The role will include copy writing, email marketing, video production in support of an existing media services team, social media management, and more.
An appropriate fit for this role is a strategist who can build communities online and in person. A strong storyteller who can identify what resonates with the right audiences to incite the right action. The role requires the simultaneous management of several clients and projects. It incorporates a mix of analytical skills alongside the storytelling aspect of the role. It offers abundant opportunities to get creative, try new things, and scale up when a new tactic performs well.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field; 2 – 3 years of digital marketing experience; 2 – 3 years of experience writing web content (articles); 2 – 3 years of experience developing and publishing multimedia web content; 2 – 3 years of paid experience managing the social media presence for a business or organization; 2 – 3 years of demonstrated experience developing and executing digital marketing strategies, including measurement, assessment and improvement efforts; 2 – 3 years of working in google analytics; experience demonstrating the following skills: outstanding interpersonal communications skills, providing a strong customer service experience, using an analytical skill set to build and execute a marketing strategy around data findings, digital storytelling, the ability to work on several campaigns simultaneously, exercising excellent problem solving and task management, and working collaboratively with partners from several different backgrounds
Prior experience with a marketing agency; hiring and working with a marketing agency; running and optimizing campaigns on the Google AdWords platform; running and optimizing paid social media campaigns (Facebook and Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn); developing visual content for social media platforms; leveraging data from website analytics, campaign performance and/or third-party market research; web optimization; content marketing strategy.
