The University of Rhode Island Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a qualified Marketing Assistant to begin on July 16, 2018. The Marketing Assistant is a full-time, post-graduate internship position that will conclude on May 15, 2019. The Marketing Assistant will be an essential member of the department’s external operations staff with an emphasis on maximizing fan engagement, ticket sales, and branding efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES: -Lead the marketing initiatives for select sports, including:
Preparing the promotions schedule for home events
Scheduling national anthem performers and in-game entertainment
Collaborating with coaches to identify and implement grassroots marketing activities
Designing promotional graphics for use in email marketing, digital and social media platforms
Directing game entertainment by producing game scripts, assembling music playlists and managing marketing displays -Support the marketing, ticket sales and fan entertainment strategies for the Rhode Island football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball programs -Assist with the management of key marketing platforms such as rewards programs and student fan clubs -Utilize official social media outlets to engage fans by delivering entertaining and informative content -Assist with the management of the student internship program -Coordinate the fulfillment of sponsorship, development, ticketing, and merchandise needs to help maximize all revenue sources -Cultivate relationships with campus and community organizations to increase local support of all URI athletic programs -Other duties as assigned

-Bachelor’s degree in management, marketing or related field is required -Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop required -Strong copywriting skills for use in-game scripts, social media, and email marketing -Ability to prepare and implement comprehensive marketing, advertising, promotion, ticket sales and game entertainment plans -Understanding of digital and social media marketing tools and best practices -Exceptional teamwork and communication skills to collaborate daily with administrators, coaches, and student-athletes -Outstanding work ethic, initiative and desire to advance within the industry -An innovative, creative and energetic personality that will recommend and implement new ideas -Flexibility to adapt to changing plans, occasionally with little notice -Ability to work occasional nights, weekends and holidays
