The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for an Athletic Marketing and Promotions Intern. This is a grant-funded position, available for 10 months in 2018-2019, with a salary of $22,311 plus room and board. The intern will be responsible for all marketing and promotional activities for the UVa-Wise Department of Athletics and its 13 varsity sports. This position will serve as a member of the Athletic Media Relations staff and will play a key role in developing and creating a fun and exciting game day environment that drives attendance. This individual will serve as the athletic department liaison to several groups on campus, including: Student Government Association (SGA) and its subcommittee Collegiate Athletic Promotions (CAP), the Student Activities Board, and all spirit groups. This individual will also work with the Office of Athletic Development on game day activations for sponsors. Additionally, this position will manage several student workers and is responsible for managing all marketing operations at home athletic events. The intern will demonstrate a commitment to NCAA rules compliance and adherence to NCAA and MEC regulations.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required, as well as work experience in a related field. The intern must have strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills; demonstrated skill with technologies used in athletics; the ability to work outdoors for extended periods; and must be able to multi-task in a hectic work environment. Significant professional interaction with athletic staff and students is required.
