The general purpose of the Program Specialist across assignments in varying parks/facilities is to plan, develop, supervise, and evaluate various Leisure Services Department programs. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to program planning, organizing, implementation and evaluation; supervising and training assigned employees; preparing long and short-term goals, instructing classes, ensuring safety in programs and facilities; creating and coordinating program publicity and promotion; and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Sample Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for designing, creating, and delivering comprehensive marketing programs and strategies to support the growth and expansion of recreation facilities, programs and services.
Collects and analyzes data related to social media marketing campaigns.
Assists with identifying the appropriate social media channels to expand department reach and tailors campaigns to the appropriate target audience.
Creates and evaluates department literature including collateral materials, photographs, advertisements and promotional materials, print advertising and signage.
Support marketing campaigns and distribution of marketing materials for events.
Develops and provides on-going maintenance and monitoring of information for website and social media.
Works in conjunction with Community Relations Specialist on web content and evaluation.
Develops, updates, and implements a Marketing and Communications Plan for the department, including branding design and support.
Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Bachelor's degree in course of study related to occupational field with one year of related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
One year of supervisory experience preferred.
Must be certified in First Aid/CPR or have ability to attain within 6 months of employment.
Additional Salary Information: With satisfactory 6 month review salary increases to $44,608.
