The marketing strategist for Madison Country Day School (MCDS) will work closely with the Director of Development, the Directors of Enrollment, and the trustee chair of the marketing committee, to develop and implement a comprehensive and strategic marketing plan designed to raise visibility, grow enrollment, and increase retention for an innovative International Baccalaureate (IB) World School that serves Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 students. This position reports to the Director of Development.
In this role, the marketing strategist will develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy aimed at four primary objectives:
Strengthen the MCDS brand.
Build brand awareness.
Increase prospective family inquiries, tours, visits, and student applications.
Engage current families to increase student retention.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Skillfully integrate a range of best-practice strategies and tactics in advertising and communications to connect with key internal and external audiences.
Examples of target audiences include: Prospective, past, and current families and students; faculty and staff; Board of Trustees; donors; volunteers; local media; and community opinion leaders.
Collaborate with the Web & Creative Services Manager on marketing projects.
The Web & Creative Services Manager is responsible for designing, refining, and packaging finished marketing materials for brand consistency and strategic impact.
Manage strategy and content for MCDS social media platforms.
Lead the content and concept development and raw shooting for internal and external promotional videos.
Write copy for all marketing materials including print, digital and video formats.
Track, compile, and analyze relevant marketing data for Board and senior leadership reports.
Other duties as assigned by Head of School and/or Director of Development.
Marketing Projects Include, but are not limited to:
Admissions & Enrollment marketing and promotion g. School program general information brochures, high school course guide, High School Preview Night video presentation, Community Open Houses, Pre-K and Kindergarten New Student Readiness Day, Parent Orientations, etc.
MCDS Events marketing and promotion e.g. Annual Jazz Showcase, theatre productions, music concerts and performances, and Athletic program event promo and collateral.
Fund Development g. collateral for the MCDS Annual Fund, major fundraising events, stewardship events, and the MCDS Endowment.
Revenue-driven projects g. Summer Discovery day camp program and other revenue-driven projects that may be initiated by the Head of School or other school leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or
3+ years of experience in marketing and communications with educational institutions and/or nonprofit organizations.
A portfolio of successful marketing and communications work with a web and social media emphasis. Work portfolio examples should demonstrate capability of solving marketing problems, storytelling skill and blending multiple communication modes to achieve strategic goals.
Expertise with Mac and/or PC platforms and content management systems.
Skill with Google Adwords, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WordPress, Google+, YouTube, etc.
Experience with or willingness to learn Blackbaud’s RE and ON
Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Strong time-management skills with proven ability to successfully produce and manage multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment.
