The successful candidate will assist in generating awareness of Mercer Athletics with the ultimate objective of increasing sponsorships revenue. The position includes responsibility for game management at major athletic events, game and season ticket promotions, and provides sales support for Mercer Athletic activities. This position will be responsible for increasing revenue through season, single, and group ticket sales as well as sponsorship fulfillment.
The candidate must be adept at both strategy and execution. Must also be a creative thinker who has a collaborative, pro-active style and willing to try new initiatives.
The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree, with one or more years of experience in marketing or communications. The candidate must have the ability to effectively work in a setting that includes technology, branding, design, promotion and advertising. The candidate must have a high degree of personal initiative and ability to lead a graduate assistant throughout the year and game day staff during home events.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating the integration of sponsorship elements into game production to ensure fulfillment and seamless presentation
Assist in generating revenue through sponsorship packages
Develop strategize to increase revenue through season, single, and group ticket sales
Collaborate with the communications and video departments on social media efforts, videos, website, online streaming and other special projects to enhance the Mercer Athletics brand
Write PA Script and coordinate video boards at events with video boards
Develop and maintain relationships across campus and implement initiatives to increase student attendance and engagement at athletic events while working closely with Student Affairs, Greek Life, Residence Life and the Homecoming Committee
Collaborate with the external team to strategize digital advertising elements, digital ad campaigns, and social marketing
Assist in developing strategies for improving attendance and the overall fan experience at home event
Required skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree required
1 to 3 years of experience in marketing, promotions, sales or tickets sales in collegiate, professional or minor league field
Strong technical, organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills and creativity required as well as the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and willingness to be a team player
Proactive and detail oriented with strong follow-up skills
Proficient in MS Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge of social media means and effective uses
Ability to be flexible with work hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to manage graduate assistants, interns, and student staff
3 to 5 years of experience in marketing, promotions, sales or tickets sales in collegiate, professional or minor league field
Strong working knowledge and demonstrated experience with graphic design, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML coding and video production
Experience with Daktronics video boards
Strong working knowledge of development of marketing plans and analysis of market data
