The Senior Director of Marketing is responsible for leading a team of talented individuals and vendors in promoting the salable aspects of UMSL in ways that resonate with all stakeholders; potential/current students, parents, influencers, faculty and staff. Key responsibilities include:
Create marketing strategies for the University and specific entities including Admissions and individual colleges/units.
Oversee marketing strategies for the Touhill Performing Arts Center – ensuring it serves as a vital UMSL brand asset.
Direct, assess and evaluate performance of marketing services team and vendors.
Plan and administer the marketing operations budget to maximize ROI through advertising assets including broadcast, digital, outdoor and print.
Work with Marcom colleagues and senior campus leadership to determine appropriate annual marketing spend – including special requests from colleges/units.
Oversee design and execution of market research programs.
Communicate UMSL's marketing initiatives and research to internal and external stakeholders.
Serves as a brand ambassador – ensuring that all units of the University are working in compliance with existing brand protocol and style guidelines in all communications/marketing efforts.
Provide advice and leadership to all aspects of the Marcom operation
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Must have an understanding of and appreciation for diverse populations/settings.
Strong written and verbal skills are essential, with the ability to deliver articulate and engaging presentations.
Self-starter, ability to see connections, team builder, curious, open to possibilities
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Well-grounded in digital and traditional marketing demonstrating with a strength in analytics
Ability to analyze existing data and metrics to thoughtfully compile research-based strategies that align with defined goals.
Experience in consulting with higher-level clients.
Experience in media planning and strategy.
