The marketing specialist is one of nine staff members in the communications and membership department, reporting to the vice president of communications and membership.
This position works with all departments to develop and implement marketing plans, and to manage social media, public relations projects and consumer inquiries, our online job board, and advertising for all Academy products and services.
Marketing Planning and Development (60%)
Generates and executes the annual marketing plan that promotes positive and informative member engagement, increases opportunities for more revenue, and supports the Academy’s mission and objectives.
Observes and works to increase the Academy’s publication market share and visibility of the organization.
Ensures delivery of financial actuals and goals to senior management and board of directors on all advertising opportunities.
Develop lasting relationships with other hearing health-care organizations that support the Academy’s mission.
Observes competition to keep the Academy positioned properly in the market.
Provides regular coordination and communication with departments to facilitate timing of campaigns and ongoing initiatives.
Clearly communicates Academy mission, initiatives, events, services, products, and updates with membership and, when applicable, industry partners.
Developing and Completing Committee Objectives (15%)
Prepares and executes tactical plans for committee initiatives with adequate lead time to secure resources and plan for success.
Creates cost-effective ways to deliver the maximum impact of the Academy’s mission with limited financial resources.
Achieves committee objectives outlined in the board approved annual plan.
Identifies milestones and metrics to ensure periodic committee progress is on track for goals.
Provides timely and clear communication with committee and staff members on milestones, deadlines, discussions, and decision making.
Committee Planning and Support (5%)
Ensures efficient lead time to allow communication in between Academy staff and committee members when planning and approving projects.
Provides proactive support of committee chair and committee member activities to make participation rewarding and fulfilling for everyone involved.
Works with committee chairs in preparation of annual budgets throughout the budgeting process.
Team and Individual Management (20%)
Actively suggests ways to improve current systems and offer solutions when issues arise.
Clearly communicates marketing objectives, plans, and ideas with every department.
Plans and prepares for the next marketing campaign and/or event.
Provides timely and clear communication with fellow staff on milestones, deadlines, meetings, input, and final decision-making.
Works with the communications team and advertising agency to make sound business decisions and ensure continued revenue generation.
Strong project management and organizational skills with effective written and verbal communications skills.
Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others and in team environments.
Solid experience in an association environment and managing vendor relationships.
Desired experience in and/or knowledge of advertising sales and trends.
Required marketing experience would include customer analysis, surveys, database analysis, trend monitoring, and performance metrics.
Tech savvy and knowledgeable of social media outlets.
Experience in preparing budgets.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field and two-four years of related experience.
