The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (VPTL) delivers programs and services to faculty and students on campus as well as non-residential education opportunities to distance learners. The Marketing Specialist (MS) reports to the Director of Communications and Marketing and, with minimal supervision, ensures the timely and efficient creation, posting, and delivery of marketing messages, campaign reporting, database management, and reporting. The MS participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of the VPTL integrated marketing/communications plan, including: paid advertising, email communications, and VPTL main web site updates, ensuring that all meet VPTL goals for enrollment, lead generation, and customer engagement.
The MS works with the VPTL communications and marketing team, program managers, customer service, distribution, and current, past, and potential students on a regular basis and with program teams as needed.
The successful incumbent must have excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of online marketing principles and best practices, demonstrated experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint; use of project management tools like TeamWork; Excel statistical features, preferred; some knowledge of HTML, Drupal, and marketing automation software (Marketo) a plus.
Work closely with the Associate Director to create and maintain an online marketing schedule, which includes lead generation campaigns and lead nurturing communications plans
Create and post announcements and events to the VPTL website. Daily implementation and maintenance of email campaigns, copy, and creative
Monitor trends and investigate campaign metrics
Identify and analyze new operating efficiencies within online marketing
Prepare marketing reports and presentations prior to weekly and quarterly reviews, senior staff meetings, strategy development team meetings, etc.
Occasionally work in marketing automation software (Marketo) to run lead nurture campaigns and track results (some basic html proficiency needed)
Schedule and deliver content to outside vendors for lead generation marketing campaigns
In designated project management software tool, document and track all marketing and communications projects.
Consolidate results and prepare regularly scheduled reports and dashboards on project status and performance
Create and maintain VPTL web site content using Drupal CMS web site, including landing pages, calendars, announcements, videos, and highlighted courses and certificates.
Research companies, industries, target markets, competitive institutions, and competitive course offerings to support marketing and partner relations initiatives.

Understands how to implement integrated marketing programs across channels including digital and print.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be able to use functions within Excel, manipulate data, work with pivot tables, and generate graphs and tables
Certifications and Licenses: None
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related discipline and project management certificate preferred.
