ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR – MARKETING/PROMOTIONS Marketing Sales Broadcasting Pos. # 586010 Req. # P606 RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Athletic Director Marketing and Promotions will work directly with the Director of Athletics, Senior Associate Athletic Director External Affairs, Associate Athletic Director Facilities and Game Management and Assistant Athletic Director of Ticketing on the immediate and long range marketing/sales efforts for the athletic department. Primary responsibilities are to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to increase attendance, revenue and visibility at all home events for the University’s 17 NCAA Division I athletic programs; serve as the primary marketing contact for these sports creating and organizing advertising campaigns, coordination and management of all game day promotional event operations and serve as liaison to university student organizations and work with the student body on involvement and promotion of the “Blue Zoo” student section. Oversee all game day promotions for families and community supporters; oversee development of public address scripts for football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball and prepare fliers and slides for video boards promotion of upcoming events. Work with Athletic Communications to coordinate video board productions to increase crowd involvement and improve in game atmosphere; manage marketing and promotions interns and event presentation staff including PA announcers, music and in game entertainment. Serve as liaison to the MTSU Band and Cheerleaders and coordinate their involvement in MTSU athletic events. Plan and execute pre, post and in game ceremonies, presentations and promotions at home events. Coordinate and execute theme game nights to include but not be limited to: Veterans Day or Mardi Gras Night, Kid Fest, Scout Nights, etc., and attend weekly Event Management and Marketing meetings in advance of home games and special events. Work closely with Learfield Sports Marketing to ensure the fulfillment of all sponsorship contracts, including arena and stadium signage, public address announcements, in game promotions, logo recognition and all other contract components incorporated into game presentation. Work closely with Assistant Directors Sports Information and Media Specialist on social media efforts and provide insight into areas of new media and to increase social media presence. Coordinate all in game presentations in cooperation with other departments such as: Sports Information, Electronic Media, Ticketing, Facilities, coaches and Event Management. Serve any/all functions as necessary within marketing and perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. Required to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Business Administration or a related field required. Two (2) years of relevant, progressively responsible marketing experience required. The candidate must effectively work and communicate with students, faculty, alumni, boosters and the general public and systematically drive the marketing strategy in cooperation with other members of the administrative team.
SALARY RANGE: $55,095 - $69,328; commensurate with experience
