Glenelg Country School is seeking a full-time Director of Marketing. A member of the Leadership Team and the Advancement Team, the Director reports to the Head of School and is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the School’s marketing and communication strategies, both internal and external. The individual oversees development and implementation of support materials and services in the areas of marketing, communications and public relations, while working collaboratively with all constituents within the school and community. The Art Director, Communications Coordinator and various other staff with communication functions report to the Director.
Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
A comprehensive marketing and communications program that will enhance Glenelg Country School’s image and position with the community, and facilitate internal and external communications
All Glenelg Country School marketing and communication materials including publications, media relations, etc.
Develop short- and long-term plans for the marketing and communications programs and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance;
Ensure that the School’s Mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the School’s marketing and communications strategies;
Ensure articulation of Glenelg Country School’s desired image and position consistently throughout the community, both internal and external;
Responsible for editorial direction, design, appearance, production and distribution of all publications, print and electronic materials, coordinating the appearance of items such as logo, letterhead, website, brochures, social media, the school’s magazine, etc.;
Coordinate media interest in the School and ensure regular contact with target media;
Design, support and oversee cross-functional teams and projects as assigned;
Work with the Administrative team, faculty and staff, and volunteers to:
Develop and maintain strategic perspective in organizational direction, program and services, and decision-making
Help formulate and administer policies to ensure the integrity of Glenelg Country School;
Act as an internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to school priorities
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing and communication activities; strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal skills; experience developing and managing budgets, and training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel; demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media; experience overseeing the design and production of print and digital materials and publications; computer literacy in word processing, graphic design, and data base management; commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams; strong oral and written communication skills; and the ability to manage multiple projects at a time from inception to completion.
Adobe Suite CS5 or greater (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, etc.);
Web Content Management Systems;
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
Familiarity with current social media outlets and trends;
Detail oriented with the ability to be flexible and work under strict deadlines;
Minimum of 3 years in marketing or communications with demonstrated success, preferable in the independent school/university, not-for-profit or association sector
