The AMS invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Marketing & Promotions Specialist, located in our Providence, RI headquarters. The Marketing and Promotions Specialist will assist the Senior Marketing Manager with the creation and execution of marketing plans for the AMS Publications Division, with the overall goal of increasing sales, usage, and awareness of AMS publications.

Particular duties, tasks and responsibilities of this position include:
Create, manage, and execute direct mail, online, and social campaigns for all AMS publications, and report on results
Make project schedules and monitor deadlines
Create social media content to promote AMS publications and authors
Maintain website content and create (and report on) web sales/promotions
Write clear and concise advertising copy and product descriptions
Maintain knowledge of the AMS book portfolio and the various features and programs offered by the AMS
Coordinate with colleagues in other departments throughout the Society on marketing-related projects
Maintain up to date knowledge of the publications portfolio and the various features and programs offered by the AMS
Assist with market research for new and existing publications
Act as backup, when needed, to exhibits coordinator.
Travel to mathematical meetings, both AMS and Non-AMS, to set up and work at book exhibit (as needed, 2 to 5 times per year).
Background in marketing and promotions
Ability to keep current with new work methods, skills, and technologies to complete work activities

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good organizational and project management skills
Skilled at evaluating problems and developing solutions
Knowledge of email marketing, online advertising, and social media tools and strategies
Knowledge of web analytics (Google Analytics)
Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator)
Working knowledge of video editing a plus
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
Ability to learn Personify, our association management software
