The Director of Marketing and Communications Operations will lead efforts to promote the College to key audiences; oversee the production of consistent, compelling communications; and direct the efforts of creative staff in the College's department of Marketing & Communications. Reporting to the vice president for enrollment services and marketing communications and working in collaboration with the director of strategic communications, this position will lead the team in creative direction and development of marketing campaigns, ensuring proper messaging to key audiences in advancing the College's mission and brand.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Marketing Message Articulation and Campaign Development
Under the direction of the Vice President, works to understand the College's academic offer, workforce impact, and essential value to key stakeholders (including students, employers, and the community at large) and develops marketing messaging and content to advance the College. In collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications, leads the production of creative content to drive good public relations outcomes. Understands the needs of key audiences and the College's desired outcomes for each, identifies messages and determines best media to reach these audiences. Serves as brand champion for the institution, meeting frequently with College colleagues to ensure consistency of messaging, tone, and personality across College communications.
Serves as creative director in Marketing and Communications; provides creative direction to writers, designers, and freelancers. Manages creative staff and project coordinators to oversee the conception, development, production, and distribution/deployment of college publications, printed materials, websites and other digital assets. Promotes college editorial style and design guidelines, produces editorial style guide and promotes its usage.
Supervises staff in performance of job duties and responsibilities. Assigns and delegates tasks, provides direction, resolves work problems, communicates job expectations, trains employees and creates professional growth development opportunities. Carries out, explains, interprets and enforces policy. Conducts annual employee evaluations, and recommends pay increases, promotions and other personnel actions. Approves leave and authorizes overtime as appropriate. Participates in employee selection process. Administers disciplinary actions upon approval, and in collaboration with Human Resources. Serves on cross-functional College committees for special projects.
Execution of College Communication Needs
Manages processes to respond to college-wide communications needs, determines appropriate responses to requests and timing needed for development, assigns creative staff and monitors project progress. Oversees master production schedule, provides intervention/assistance, if necessary, to meet established deadlines. Identifies communications opportunities and recommends solutions to meet enrollment, PR, or informational needs. Ensures adequate inventory of print collateral, maintains relationships with College print facility and area printers to ensure quality work and value.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages multiple assignments of varying complexity and meets tight timelines and deadlines with the ability to adapt to changing needs of the College and business partners. Ensures College name and image is perceived positively by external as well as internal audience/stakeholders. Hours may include working outside of a normal workweek schedule as needed to meet workload demands.
Minimum Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree. Five (5) years of experience in marketing communications as well as experience in supervising others to fulfill communications needs. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s). *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
Usual Physical Requirements
While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee regularly stands and walks for extended periods of time, and occasionally sits. Employee converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. Employee occasionally reaches with hands or arms, climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of up to 25 pounds when moving files, boxes and other materials. With multiple conference spaces as well as meetings across the campus, employee regularly walks outside to other buildings.
Typical office environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to business offices. Must travel to various Columbus State campuses and sites as well as offsite venues.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: management principles and practices; budget management; marketing and communications best practices; best practices in the promotion of higher education to key stakeholders, including prospective students and their influencers. Skill in: creative direction, persuasive writing, verbal and visual communications, project management leadership. Ability to: apply management principles to practical situations within a single department or functional area; manage and accomplish results through delegation of accountability and responsibility to management staff; maintain confidential and sensitive information; develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students, general public, vendors, and other job contacts; work with and effectively manage persons of varying cultures and diversity.

Columbus State Community College has been meeting the diverse educational needs of the Central Ohio community for more than 50 years.
