The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is hiring an assistant director of marketing and communications. We seek a team member to assist the director in growing the number of qualified applicants to our programs and further establishing the college’s position as a leading institution shaping the future of learning in architecture, urban planning, and urban design. The assistant director will help to broaden our impact and recruitment efforts by executing strategic marketing and communications plans that integrate a mix of marketing, branding, communications, and advertising strategies and tactics.
The assistant director of marketing and communications provides support in aligning our brand with our mission, values, and strategy by:
Positioning the identity of Taubman College as distinct and memorable.
Collaborating with others to create and scale new opportunities for awareness, recruitment, enrollment, engagement, and event attendance.
Evaluating the effectiveness of marketing and communication activities and utilizing analytics to pursue continuous improvement.
Building on our unwavering commitment to academic excellence; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and innovation.
Work with the director of marketing and communications to set priorities, evaluate strategies, and deploy tactics to grow the number of qualified applicants to our eight degree programs within the college.
Develop targeted marketing pieces and tools to attract top prospective students.
Constantly evaluate new social/digital platforms and identify new marketing opportunities to reach and engage prospective students by understanding core needs, drivers, and new ways to reach students in a changing market.
Utilize and encourage best practices across channels or platforms through benchmarking and awareness of key recruitment marketing trends.
Ensure that all admissions marketing initiatives are consistent with the college’s brand and messaging.
Use data and analytics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing campaigns and strategically think about content, platforms, audiences, time, and user experience.
Manage the college’s efforts in social media and online brand management. Track Taubman College’s presence, growth, and market share on social media platforms and leverage analytics and research insights to drive marketing efforts.
Assist in budget process for admissions marketing and track expenses for assigned portfolio.
Collaborate with team members to help build a best-in-class marketing operation.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field with a minimum of five years of experience, preferably at a college or university. An advanced degree is preferred.
Experience marketing degree programs to prospective students using a variety of concepts and tactics.
Knowledge of a wide variety of communications channels; publications, web, and multimedia with a strong understanding of online/social media strategy and savviness with respective platforms.
Understanding of the role of data in developing sound marketing strategy, including a proven ability to analyze and interpret data.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating personal integrity, creativity, flexibility, and accountability.
Strong editing and proofreading skills.
Collaborative work orientation.
Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary and diverse community environment.
Expertise in using web-based tools and technologies (e.g., Google Analytics, MailChimp, social networking applications and media sharing sites) and website content management software.
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
