Position Title: Communications and Marketing Manager FLSA Classification: Exempt Reports to: Director of Admissions and Marketing Position Purpose: Develop and implement and guide the school's communication and community relations programs and activities.
Oversees the production of all school publications, booklets and other collateral materials for the school including marketing and public relations brochures, annual report, strategic plan, school family directories, family handbook, and event invitations and programs.
Develop, write and manage the production of a school publication for alumni, parents, and other constituents
Design and edit Hashavua, the school's weekly email newsletter
Manage media relations, including writing press releases and cultivating relations with local media
Creates presentations and other materials in order to enhance marketing, public relations and selected fundraising activities Supervise communications staff
Attend school events and take photographs for publication and organize all photo archives
Manage and update the school website
Performs public speaking on behalf of the school
Utilize research and surveys to better understand retention and recruitment goals, awareness and perceptions
Establish relationships with printers, designers and other vendors as necessary
Manages and supervises volunteers as necessary
B.A. degree in business, marketing, public relations or a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a non-profit environment, experience in independent schools preferred
Ability to communicate effectively with school representatives, parents, students, alumni, donors and representatives from the business community
Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively
Superb skills in writing and publication design
Demonstrated ability to manage programs and activities
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
Generally works in standard office conditions and climate
May work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events
Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
