The CFA Society of Washington DC (CFAW) is an association of 2,000+ investment professionals whose mission is to facilitate a vibrant, engaged community that advances members’ professional success. CFAW is a professional membership society, an affiliate of the CFA Institute, and the Washington, DC region’s premiere organization for the financial investment industry.
We are seeking a full-time, detail oriented, team player with excellent communication skills to join our association office in Washington, DC. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the Society by working collaboratively with staff, committees, speakers, and others throughout the year to promote our events and member benefits. The Senior Marketing Communications Specialist reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for the implementation and management of all marketing and communication for the Society.
This position is responsible for all elements of the Society’s marketing and communications, including promotional messaging, collateral development, online newsletters, web site content, email campaigns and social media.
Qualified candidates will be energetic, forward-thinking, have a strong eye for detail and be able to build compelling messaging able to sell the value of membership to potential, new and current members. They will need to be comfortable multi-tasking, be results oriented, and have good time management skills with strong interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, CFAW leaders, vendors, members, and the public.
Serve as primary contact for all member inquiries
Support the development of integrated membership campaigns (email, web site, and online advertising)
Serve as staff liaison for External Relations committee
Assist committee chair in scheduling meetings and coordinating logistics for committee goals and activities
Assist in the active recruitment and engagement of volunteers
Develop and maintain expert level familiarity with the membership database
Produce routine and special requested reports from the database
Develop, manage, and maintain a rolling 3-month Communication Plan that outlines all scheduled communications to members
Manage production of weekly online newsletter and monthly event update
Develop and distribute dedicated email messages regarding projects and programs as appropriate and on a pre-established schedule
Manage the design and creation of print collateral
Utilize social media as a regular platform for communicating with the CFAW membership and financial investment community at large
Promote and engage members to increase use of CFAW social media platforms
Maintain an effective, inviting, and visually appealing CFAW website
Continually monitor and edit the website, ensuring priority items are featured, older information is updated or removed, and all web-links work
Ensure accurateness and relevancy of all information on the website
5 years of work experience in a marketing or communications role
Proficiency and experience with segmenting within a CRM system - Salesforce preferred
Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, and tactics
Experience leveraging social media platforms for business – LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter
Advanced knowledge of digital communication and marketing automation
Strong knowledge of MS Office, Constant Contact, and event registration software
Self-directed, works independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Excellent proofing skills
Ability to work well under pressure and think outside the box when needed
