Edmonds Center for the Arts (ECA) presents a high quality and diverse season of music, dance, theatre, comedy and special attractions in its beautifully renovated performing arts venue in Edmonds, WA, just 17 miles north of Seattle. ECA seeks a high-energy, creative, organized and dynamic marketing and communications professional to join its team. This position will direct and implement all marketing, advertising sales, audience development, branding and public relations efforts for Edmonds Center for the Arts; and will proactively communicate about performances and events, facility rental, Education & Outreach programs, as well as organizational successes and achievements. This position drives the organization’s efforts to achieve the highest level of participation, engagement and revenue generation (earned and contributed); and raises institutional visibility to local, regional and national audiences. This position requires a strategic thinker, strong project manager and team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude who thrives in developing relationships. The Director of Marketing & Business Development will possess excellent written and oral communication skills. ECA is an innovative and challenging workplace. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Marketing, Communications and Public Relations • Oversees the strategic planning, development and execution of ECA’s marketing, advertising and audience development initiatives. • Creates innovative marketing strategies that will continue to build ECA’s brand, leading to increased awareness, acquisition, loyalty and ticket sales among target audiences. • Responsible for web-based marketing and production of all marketing materials including (but not limited to) ECA Season Brochure, annual ECA Presents video, patron programs, email blasts, brochures, flyers and signage. • Writes press releases, editorials and compelling copy for website, collateral and patron programs. • Identifies opportunities for stories, photographs, videos and other items of importance and interest about ECA in print, television, radio and electronic media. • Develops, manages and maintains the Marketing budget. • Supports and manages communication initiatives regarding executive and special announcements, preparing staff for media interactions, internal communication and public appearances. • Provides marketing support to the Development, Education & Outreach and Rentals teams, as needed. • Plans and implements various special events throughout the year. • Keep informed of developments and trends in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, not-for-profit management and governance. Business Development • Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and sales plan that will increase departmental advertising revenues and increase ticket sales. • Monitors external and internal environment for development of new market segments. • Delivers positive messages regarding activities of the organization when representing the organization at company and outreach events, as well as internal & external stakeholder events. • Develops marketing materials for use in the marketing and solicitation of new prospects/clients. • Collaborates with Development, Programming and Rentals staff in the development of new community partnerships. • Drives membership and loyalty of current ECA audiences, as well as cultivates future patrons through thoughtful and strategic outreach. • Develops and maintains evaluation processes to gain feedback from constituents. • Manages the solicitation of in-kind media sponsorships and partnerships. Intersectional Marketing & Community Engagement • Participates in building strategic and innovative partnerships throughout the local and regional community that help achieve the organization’s short- and long- term goals. • Develops and implements holistic audience development strategy through ECA’s discounted ticket programs -- prioritizing communities with socioeconomic barriers to entry. • Establish and execute inclusion-based marketing and engagement strategies. • In partnership with key staff, cultivate strategic partnerships and collaborations with schools, government agencies, community-based institutions, and social service organizations. • Serves as a representative at community events, regional conferences, events and programs. • Serves as staff lead for relevant board committees (Marketing & Business Development). • Participates in regular board meetings and attends additional committee meetings when required. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited college or university. • 3 – 5 years or more experience in marketing, business development and communications strategy within the arts, entertainment industry and/or not-for-profit sector; or, a related field. • Highly collaborative, with a successful track record in executing media campaigns, including digital. • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with staff, board members and volunteers. • Knowledge of and passion for the performing arts. • Understanding of a customer-centric approach to marketing across multiple channels • Experience managing programs in coordination with multiple internal stakeholders • Experience stewarding a strong visual brand • Strong leadership skills • Excellent verbal, written and presentational skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite WORKING CONDITIONS: Position often requires hours over and above a standard 40-hour work week. Events and meetings often take place outside of the normal workday and on weekends.
