AE Works is looking for a Marketing & Communications Manager with excellent written and spoken communication, time management, social awareness, attention to detail, and critical & analytical thinking skills to join the AE Works Marketing Team.
Based out of our Arlington (Rosslyn) office, you will create and implement marketing and communications plans to position AE Works as a thought leader and increase market share. Who You'll Work With
You will work directly with firm-wide leadership and collaborate with technical and client leaders on a variety of digital and print communications, including award submissions, speaking engagements, thought leadership, events, articles, blogs, collateral development, media outreach strategies, and leveraging social media to promote the firm’s design and thought leadership in various building typologies across markets. This role reports to the Chief Brand Officer (CBO).
What You'll Do
The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for creating and implementing marketing and communications plans to position AE Works as a thought leader and increase market share. This person will work closely with the Chief Brand Officer, Firm Leadership Team, and technical leaders on firm-wide communications strategy and activities. He/She ensures that marketing and communications are prioritized and implemented in alignment with the brand and firm vision. Given this variety, the ability to work under pressure, prioritize and handle a number of concurrent projects and tasks is key.
Essential role responsibilities include:
Communications Planning and Management
Develop effective communication strategies and integrated marketing campaigns under the direction of the CBO and in coordination with technical leaders.
Identify and pursue opportunities for new types of communications and platforms that support the firm’s overall goals.
Content: Digital and Print
Creative development, production and management of complex content streams for internal and external communications, including advertisements, web copy, white papers, project case studies, press releases, social media postings and marketing collateral.
Collaborate with the firm leadership team and technical leaders to develop copy and content for bylined articles, white papers, and other thought leadership mediums.
Coordinate photo shoots, including volunteer scheduling, participant coordination, invoicing, and proofing processes.
Develop, write, and produce presentations and other materials to support business development. Act as a resource to the staff for marketing specific information.
Manage the website and update it on an ongoing basis.
Coordinate and plan content to support AE Works sponsored and attended events.
Ensure internal and external communications are consistent with brand and messaging guidelines. Work closely with CBO and technical leaders on feedback and approvals for a variety of communications.
Provide sound counsel and substantive edits to enhance client and firm-facing communications.
Manage and update the firm’s marketing asset library, including photography, templates, and other materials.
Develop and maintain a log of all press coverage, photography rights, and client publication agreements.
Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field is preferred.
5-7+ years of professional experience in corporate communications experience.
Preference for candidates who have worked at professional services firms. A/E/C industry a plus, but not required.
Superior written and oral communication skills for marketing (i.e. advertising, storyboarding, copywriting).
Team player with good leadership skills and the ability and desire to collaborate with people at all management levels—primarily leadership and operations group technical and client leaders.
Independently able to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and implement marketing and communications strategies.
Strong organizational skills.
Takes a proactive approach to project management, utilizing strategy, planning, and execution skills in collaboration with team. Identifies issues, risks, and conflicts and asks for assistance and/or delegates in a timely and constructive manner when required.
Entrepreneurial approach; ability and desire to initiate the identification and pursuit of innovative ideas.
Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. Experience working with WordPress is preferred.
