Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Assistant Director of Online Marketing will work independently and directly with the Director of Online Marketing to monitor, maintain, optimize, and advance Dickinson's web presence. They collaborate with the campus community on web development projects that support institutional initiatives, meet division/department goals and deliver value to the stakeholder . Responsibilities include developing and maintaining complex multimedia features on our site, providing CMS training and support to campus constituencies, assisting with Google Analytics in developing goals and analyzing trends with web traffic as well as maintaining the digital brand of the college with strategic SEO initiatives .
Partner with campus clients, including academic departments, administrative offices, and campus centers to direct development of their websites by providing site consultations and recommendations for improving site content and usability. Prioritize the consultation projects and manage timelines based on availability and stakeholder needs. In partnership with director of online marketing, develop and implement regular template updates to keep content relevant, accessible, and easy to navigate based on user metrics gathered from Google Analytics.
Protect the Dickinson brand and enureensure the established style guide is being used consistently across the web. This includes regularly meeting accessibility guidelines as set by the Department of Justice, ensuring that all web templates and content are developed in accordance with WAVE standards. Correct issues where brand standards, site design and accessibility are not being followed.
Respond to HelpDesk tickets for CMS issues. These can include technical issues requiring creative problem solving and occasional collaboration with Enterprise Systems, site updates on pages in which the user does not have access to content, creation of new homepages or document pages, Google Analytics queries for specific page metrics, creation of link tracking URL parameters, overall web knowledge inquiries and requests for permissions within Jadu. The assistant director will be required to assess the user's needs and grant appropriate permissions on a case-by-case basis.
The assistant director will assist in generating and sending campus communications through the Gateway mail-merge system using the MJML email platform. All email templates are written in MJML and translated to an HTML email template that is accessible to all email clients and devices. Review copy distribution to the requesting clients and the use of our mailmerge will require extremely careful attention to detail. Where necessary, link tracking may be used to gather user behavior metrics within Google Analytics.
Create strategic Google Tag Manager triggers to implement into Google Analytics Events reports. These triggers will allow a more granular look into our user behavior in areas where Google Analytics does not provide enough data. These may include tracking links to critical external sites for Admissions or Advancement or key elements on the homepage such as scroll depth or specific object elements in which we would like to track engagement. Goals for these elements will be closely monitored in custom reports within Google Analytics.
