Job Purpose Working with the Heads of Marketing, this role is responsible for creating the marketing strategy and plans that support the UK growth strategy for one of Canada Life's business Divisions (Wealth /Insurance) critically ensuring alignment across Business Plans, Distribution Strategy and the Marketing teams to meet the defined business and marketing / brand objectives. Reporting to the Head of Marketing for the division, this role will define and set the strategic marketing direction for the lead generation, acquisition, client activation and retention of the business area, as well as leading the external marketing relationships with Key Strategic Partnerships or Corporates / Institutions. Working within the parameters of the annual planning process this individual is critical in supporting the Heads of Marketing to set and agree the marketing objectives, strategies and plans, aligned to business plans. They will also be personally accountable for leading Canada Life's external marketing relationships with either key strategic partners, or our Corporate / Institutional partners, leading the external facing relationship management, whilst managing a small team to design and deliver the marketing programs to leverage the full value of these key external partnerships. Key Accountabilities Supporting the Head of Marketing, develop the business area's marketing strategy and plans, aligning with other business units to ensure business plans, brand objectives, and operational requirements are delivered. Develop and maintain a broad network of relationships internally and externally, developing a deep understanding of the business, markets, proposition, commercial goals and objectives, and target audiences continually feeding insight into the marketing programme and sharing knowledge with other marketers to improve quality and performance of our marketing.
Develop and agree the business area's value proposition, messaging and positioning to its key audiences, and ensure these are reflected in marketing messaging.
Agree marketing goals and objectives for lead generation, acquisition, retention, and awareness of the business division and its target audiences. Ensure that the marketing programme achieves these goals, and regularly report progress against targets to the business.
Ensure that the business area marketing programme is fully aligned with the wider marketing programme, including brand values, digital transformation and so on.
Represent Canada Life externally with key strategic or Corporate / Institutional audiences, using market and marketing expertise to influence outcomes to maximise value for Canada Life from our external partnerships. Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills Broad experience in a senior marketing and external marketing relationship management position is essential, including: Proven capability in strategic marketing and planning
Creative thinker, highly numerical and analytical, skilled at constructing strategies and plans based on commercial goals and objectives, and have excellent influencing and communication skills
Deep and demonstrable understanding of financial services (life / pensions), audiences, competitors and markets
Significant experience in B2B marketing and a good understanding of B2B2C and direct to consumer marketing
Extensive marketing skills, including comprehensive knowledge of marketing principles, channel marketing and sales processes
Strong influencing skills, and an ability to get buy in from stakeholders
A good communicator, both written and verbal with the ability conceptualise thinking into clear communication
Experience working and leading within a shared services environment would be advantageous
A commercial marketer with strong numerical and problem solving skills
Highly Professional and proactive work ethic
Ability to work within a dynamic change environment, undertakes a variety of tasks whilst responding to changes in priority and direction and is well organised
Qualifications
Essential Degree level education Marketing qualification - CIM or equivalent Job Specific Accountabilities Responsible for translating the business commercial and strategic objectives into a marketing and communications programme. They will play a pivotal role in ensuring the strategy and proposition is understood by the marketing team, and that marketing activities support achievement of business objectives, including achievement of sales targets They will have a high level of autonomy in terms of how they manage their time and where they focus their efforts, providing agreed milestones and objectives are being met
Accountable for determining the suitability of marketing communications, campaigns and material, providing input, influencing and being recognised as a market and marketing expert.
Accountable for identifying, building and maintaining external relationships with key external partnerships, notably strategic partners or Corporates / Institutions.
Accountable for the delivery to time, quality and budget all strategic partner or Corporate marketing programmes
Decisions which involve significant spend, prioritisation of resource, or key aspects of strategy, will be made in consultation with line management
Responsible for ensuring the activity contributes to the overall sales success and revenue via lead generation, sales conversion support, web traffic, and brand engagement.
