Your role as Director of Sales & Marketing:
The Director of Sales & Marketing is a senior leadership position in the Statler Hotel and is a vital contributor to the success of the hotel. Reporting directly to the General Manager of the Statler Hotel, this position is chiefly responsible for these key responsibilities:
1. Sales & Marketing Strategy, Analysis, and Planning
The Director of Sales & Marketing prepares and executes the annual sales and marketing plan for the Hotel that reflects on historical goals and outcomes to plan appropriately for the year ahead. Other duties include establishing departmental standards and selling guidelines, preparing budgets, overseeing room blocks and coordinating with the Revenue Manager to maximize yield.
2. Department Administration and Supervision
This position oversees the daily operations of the office and provides direct supervision of Sales & Catering/Conference Planning staff, including: hiring, training and development, performance management, time card and leave administration, and administration of compensation and department incentive programs.
3. Food & Beverage Marketing
This role works with the hotel's Food and Beverage team to develop, plan and execute marketing and promotional strategies, campaigns, events, and activities that drive local catering, lounge, and restaurant covers.
4. Client Relations and Account Management
The Sales & Marketing Director works to develops professional, long-term business relationships with hotel clients, driving customer loyalty by ensuring quality of service standards are met or exceeded at all times. This position serves as the lead account manager for key clients and accounts.
5. Advertising, Public and Media Relations
This role is responsible for the representation of the Statler Hotel to the Cornell and Ithaca communities and on a state/national level as needed. They develop relationships to strengthen the hotel's reputation and visibility in the community, oversee hotel press releases and social media platforms, and manage the hotel's website to keep it current and fresh.
6. Hotel Leadership
The Sales & Marketing Director serves as a member of the hotel's Executive Committee, providing organizational and strategic direction, reviewing and creating hotel policies, participating in planning and key decision-making activities, and monitoring progress toward hotel strategic goals and initiatives.
Bachelor's Degree in hospitality, marketing or business.
Minimum of 5-7years of sales/marketing experience in the hospitality industry.
Ability to think creatively and analytically.
Highly motivated, dynamic, and organized individual with a professional demeanor and superior customer service skills, indicative of a AAA rated Four Diamond hotel.
Must be familiar with all aspects of hotel operations and knowledgeable about catering/conference planning and execution.
Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office, budget software, and knowledge of hospitality software applications.
