The University of Tennessee, Knoxville's division of online learning and academic programs invites applications for a Marketing & Communications Manager to provide leadership and expertise in the promotion of the university's efforts in online and distance education. This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.

UTK is the state's flagship, land-grant university. We are a Carnegie doctoral research (R1) university housing 11 colleges and 900+ programs of study. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Online Learning & Academic Programs and working within a cross-functional team, this position supports UTK's mission as outlined in the Chancellor's Strategic Vision: To provide high-quality, accessible, affordable, inclusive and life-long learning to the residents of Tennessee, and to students across the nation and around the world. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the brand and vision of online programs at a flagship land-grant university.
UTK's growing list of online academic programs currently includes 16 Master's degrees, six doctoral or Educational Specialist programs, 13 certificates, and four Bachelor's degrees. New programs for Fall 2021 include a Master's of Public Health, Bachelor's in Applied Studies, Bachelor's in Agricultural Leadership, and an undergraduate certificate in Horticultural Therapy, the university's first standalone undergraduate certificate program. Initiates projects and directs strategy, development, and publication of key communications initiatives that effectively describe and promote online programs at the university.
Partners with multiple campus units in developing comprehensive marketing and recruitment strategies for all fully-online programs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to include: Colleges and Academic Departments, The Graduate School, Enrollment Management, and the Office of Communications and Marketing.
Serves as project lead for comprehensive web redevelopment project for "Vols Online." Maximizes site visibility through Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Google Analytics. Develops and supports processes for tracking prospective student engagement with website and university systems.
Creates and leads departmental social media strategy, designed to educate internal and external stakeholders on key resources, updates, initiatives and projects.
Actively develops and manages brands for division of Online Learning and Academic Programs and Vols Online, promoting university commitments to inclusivity.
Makes recommendations to AVP regarding marketing and outreach opportunities that support the growth of online programs.
