Western Kentucky University, a member of Conference USA and a Football Bowl Subdivision NCAA member institution, seeks to hire an individual for the position of Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing. This is a 12-month, full-time position. This position will report directly to the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing, Promotions and Tickets. Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulation of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Assist with managing the daily operations of the marketing office, including but not limited to: developing and coordinating marketing and promotional efforts for WKU's 16 intercollegiate sports, executing game day and halftime promotions, coordinating special events, overseeing staff and the WKU street team, graphic design, social media marketing, fulfilling sponsorship elements, and other duties as assigned
Assist with managing all advertising trade and media buys with local television, radio and print media as well as all social media advertising
Manage all digital advertising efforts and partnerships
Manage and direct all marketing efforts for WKU Men's Basketball and Softball to include: advertising, fan experience, in-game promotions, game scripts and communication to fans and donors about Hilltopper Athletics.
Manage the in-game experience for WKU Football and assist Associate AD with all marketing efforts for Football
Manage marketing budget and all expenditures associated with marketing/promotions
Implement season and individual ticket campaigns that produce revenue and cultivate interest and support from University groups, local businesses and the Bowling Green community
Manage community service events and hours for student athletes and staff
Coordinate with media-rights holder to execute sponsored promotions
Performs other related duties as assigned by Associate Athletics Director for Marketing, Promotions, and Tickets
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:
Highly motivated, detail oriented, excellent interpersonal skills and have excellent communication skills
Demonstrate strong writing and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Knowledge of relevant University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the University and favorably represent the institution with external constituents
Ability to investigate, analyze and draw appropriate conclusions to problems and issues
Skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
Initiative, self-discipline, confidence and charisma to lead, encourage and challenge a team of subordinate staff
Ability to develop and effectively deliver presentations
Minimum of 4 years of experience within intercollegiate athletic and/or professional sports organization
