Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Marketing Information Assistant (Social Media Specialist) for the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Under direction of the Associate Director of Communications and AVP Oncology Service, the Marketing Information Assistant (Social Media Specialist) will develop, enhance, and maintain the social media channels for Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and ScreenNJ, as well as other interactive marketing activities. This position takes photos and creates videos to be utilized on our social media channels, web sites, and in conjunction with our media relations efforts. This position also provides basic graphic design support on ad hoc projects.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops, creates, posts and monitors content on the Rutgers Cancer Institute and ScreenNJ social media channels.
Creates opportunities that will drive traffic to our social media channels, increasing the number of followers as well as the level of engagement.
Works with the Associate Director and other team members to create and schedule interactive, engaging content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, You Tube and more.
Helps with planning, development and implementation of social media strategies, content calendars, and tactical plans, ensuring that all social media messages, measurements and content are relevant to target audience.
Ensures social media channels are professional looking and on par with other NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Communications, Graphic Arts, or related field plus two (2) years of demonstrated professional experience with managing social media channels.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be proficient in the Adobe CS Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design).
Must possess excellent communication and writing skills, as well as demonstrated knowledge of photography and video production/editing (including iMovie).
Must be highly motivated and possess a high degree of creativity.
Must be team oriented, flexible, and focused on completing projects in a timely manner.
Must be very organized and detail oriented and able to articulate concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Candidates should be able to work effectively with multiple constituencies.
Graphic design skills (including knowledge of Canva and similar platforms). Experience working in a healthcare or academic environment
