The University of Washington Alumni Association’s (UWAA) Digital Marketing Automation Specialist (DMAS) works collaboratively with colleagues throughout University Advancement and the University of Washington to ensure the Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement (ASE) group and campus partners meet their broad-based-communication goals. The Digital Marketing Automation Specialist partners with content experts, communications leadership, and technical experts to generate best-in-class digital engagement. They plan, create and coordinate delivery and tracking of communications assets for a range of digital engagement platforms; these assets are deployed utilizing robust and customizable software programs for delivery, content management, analytics and constituent relation management (CRM) tools.
Marketing Automation Program Management
Serving as one of ASE’s subject-matter experts on marketing automation, the DMAS steers and executes the delivery for online and electronic communications assets of UW, ASE, UWAA, and UWRA. This position must steward and grow audiences for broad-based engagement, effectively communicate the status of ongoing projects, and create reports to inform long-term marketing strategies to UW alumni and stakeholders.
•Create, maintain, and steward e-communications delivery audiences and segments based on ASE strategic priorities and initiatives •Oversee daily delivery operations for alumni and stakeholder e-communications: get the right content to the right people, on deadline in a complex and dynamic environment •Translate marketing testing priorities into actionable A/B and end-user tests. Support an evolving, informed content strategy with clear measures of success •Create weekly updates to stakeholders to inform strategy, gauge campaign efficacy, and develop a holistic understanding of marketing performance across ASE marketing platforms •Leverage Advancement constituent data to develop highly personalized and variable content in e-communications and websites •Support ASE designers and content professionals in crafting compelling e-communications when needed •Support the ASE Marketing and Communications project managers in meeting deadlines, campaign planning, and communications strategy development. Proactively develop systems and practices to convey the status of ongoing work. •Participate in occasional event-staffing duties at evening and weekend programming •Help develop marketing automation best practices, include complex engagement streams, nurture campaigns, and triggered communications •Other duties as assigned
Digital Engagement Analysis + Interpretation
•Turn collected data and performance metrics into actionable insight. • This position must be able to work with a variety of people with varying levels of comfort with data and tell the story of our digital engagement efforts in appropriate ways. •The DMAS must be adept at coaching decision makers to develop research questions, develop a framework for analysis, and then work with technical groups to deliver reports/dashboards/narratives that answer those questions.

•Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Digital Media and/or related field, and at least two years of experience in related field.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for correspondence, special reports, spreadsheets, databases, forms, etc. •Familiarity with and awareness of data storage solutions, data handling and manipulation •Demonstrated proficiency in digital communications and marketing in an advocacy or mission-oriented setting such as an educational or not-for-profit organization •Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS (cascading style sheets), A/B testing •Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with PC platform and Windows operating system and software.? •Demonstrated skills, abilities and experience in digital communication, engagement, and/or related field, and with strong writing and editing skills.
•Experience with prevailing marketing automation software and/or content/project management software (i.e. Marketo, ProofHub). •Knowledge of CRM systems (MS Dynamics, Salesforce) •Proficiency with cross-platform analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sprinklr, Segment)
•Cubical/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions. •Hybrid work schedule with a minimum of three-days in-office.
