The communications, marketing, and events specialist will require an energetic self-starter with social media and writing skills, who also has a flair for design and loves to be creative. S/he will work closely with department faculty and staff, as well as the communications staff at the dean of engineering and university levels to help create and execute marketing and visibility campaigns, increase social media presence, and coordinate planning for department named lectures and other events. Additional responsibilities will include working with faculty members on faculty awards and recognitions, and planning meetings and conferences.
The anticipated start date for this position is August 15, 2022. This position is hiring at a starting salary between $45,000 and $55,000 per year.

Develops the communication and brand strategy for individual program(s)
Writes, designs, and coordinates the production of communication and marketing materials
Recommends integrated marketing plans / programs and strategies to meet business objectives
Guides event planning, logistics, and execution for marketing objectives department public and private events and provides on-site support
Plans and coordinates vendor management on specific projects
Assesses market opportunities and track market trends
Recommends marketing improvements based on findings
Researches and provides recommendations for potential event locations and evaluates alternatives
Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions / Information
This position will require in-person presence on campus with some ability for remote work once training is completed. Evening and weekend time will occasionally be required for events occurring outside of regular hours.
One year of related experience in social media management, event management, and/or creating or executing the marketing strategy for an organization
Ability to draft and edit professional communications (web, email, brochures, social media, internal and external documents, reports)
Organization and creativity skills
Analytical problem solving skills
Ability to work well under pressure and manage projects simultaneously
Strong time management skills
In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted
Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, or related field
Experience working in a university environment
Knowledge of managing budgets, expense reporting, and developing financial plans
