Optica is recruiting for a Senior Director of Brand and Enterprise Marketing. The Senior Director of Brand and Enterprise Marketing is responsible for maintaining the Society’s brand and associated customer and public image by planning, developing and implementing marketing at the corporate-level, as well as for investigating and implementing enterprise-wide technology solutions that will enable Optica to effectively optimize all marketing and communications campaigns sent to the optics and photonics community. The position also monitors and advises on internal and external brand standard compliance, serving as a resource and guide for observance of standards and continuous improvement and enhancement of the brand. The role includes effectively communicating with the Society’s executives, volunteers and internal/division-level marketing staff about optimal messaging and corporate positioning of the brand in the optics and photonics market.
The major areas of responsibility for this position include:
- Increasing brand awareness and understanding of the Society’s core values via the timely development and implementation of an annual Optica brand marketing plan. The plan takes advantage of all marketing channels and products and services (as possible) across the organization as well as in the optics and photonics industry at large.
- Developing and effectively managing an annual brand-specific marketing budget to include expenditures on corporate-level marketing activities and brand guideline maintenance.
- Investigating and analyzing technology-based solutions that can provide a seamless experience for Optica’s customers across all marketing channels in collaboration with IT and marketing teams. Leads implementation of any tools selected in conjunction with all applicable stakeholders.
- Convenes and co-leads regular marketing meetings to discuss brand and marketing best practices and how to employ them, how to best leverage the Society’s brand across its programs and services, and how to best coordinate and streamline email correspondence being sent out across the Society (e.g. monthly marketing calendar).
- Monitors corporate-wide application of Optica’s brand and serves as a resource and guide for adherence to standards and for continuous improvement and enhancement. Provides training and feedback to those employing the brand in their programs, products and/or services on suggested changes to ensure the ongoing integrity of the brand.
- Evaluates, updates and adapts the Optica master brand guidelines to ensure continuous improvement as a tool for successful and consistent brand application across all marketing and communication channels. Effectively communicates updated/adapted guidelines to stakeholders.
- Develops logos, standards and instructions for partner/affiliate groups to ensure outside adherence to brand. partners with, and serves as, a resource for program/relationship managers to monitor compliance and correct misuse.
- Comfortable with data-driven decisions making, provide ongoing reporting, develops actionable insights, and tests and undertakes new approaches to extend awareness of the brand.
Education and Experience
- Four-year college degree required with a major in marketing or branding preferred.
- 7-10 years marketing and branding management experience required. Experience with a scientific non-profit preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of product and service marketing, content marketing, branding, channel marketing, marketing analytics.
