The Marketing Communications Manager will develop informative content and promote innovative, creative and powerful stories for food, agriculture and science clients. The candidate will offer support for advocacy, membership and event functions through content development, email and social media marketing, website maintenance, and materials proofreading and editing. This full-time position reports to our Director of Marketing and Communications in an agency-like setting and collaborates with the communications team and association leadership to deliver thoughtful, effective solutions to meet client needs.

Manage production of weekly newsletters by sourcing articles, writing and editing content, and distributing to membership.
Develop and maintain email and social media marketing calendars.
Manage social media planning, content development, and online community engagement.
Draft marketing materials, member communications and website content for events, resources, updates and other messages.
Edit membership resources including client statements, regulatory comments, PowerPoint presentations, Board meeting materials, committee updates, and other materials.
Coordinate development and production of client print and digital collateral, such as brochures, programs, annual reports, and presentations.
Review and update client websites as needed using content management systems.
Participate in client meetings with Board of Directors, committees, and members.
Facilitate project development between client leadership and communications team, including the communications director, graphic designer and web developer.
Strong writing and editing skills are non-negotiable.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism required (or equivalent experience).
A minimum of 4-6 years’ experience supporting marketing and communications efforts required.
Candidate must be a motivated, results-oriented self-starter with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple constituencies and projects, adapt to frequent changes in priority, and meet tight deadlines required.
As client communications programs grow, these responsibilities may evolve. A willingness to learn and try new strategies is essential.
Ability to travel to client meetings 3-4 times a year required (primarily in spring and fall).
Must have proven social media and content development experience.
Experience with at least one email marketing tool, preferably Mail Chimp, is required.
Experience working in CMS, specifically WordPress, is required.
Trade association or non-profit experience, particularly in an agency setting, is strongly preferred.
Understanding of and ability to apply various writing styles such as AP and APA is preferred.
Experience using Adobe Design Premium CS/CC software, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, is desired but not required.
Competence in all applications within Microsoft Office Suite required.
