About the Job:
As the SVP of Marketing and Communications you will provide leadership and strategic direction for our brand, services and products for Independent Bank's target audiences, and the marketing and communications team. You will plan, develop and direct all aspects of the marketing and communications strategies for Independent Bank to drive revenue generation and brand awareness. You will also assist with certain investor communication strategies for Independent Bank Corporation. Additionally, you will partner with executive management and key stakeholders to ensure marketing plans are in lockstep with growth and profitability goals.

What You Will Do:
Establishes the vision, purpose and goals for the marketing, branding and communications function in collaboration with key stakeholders and executive leadership, ensuring alignment with the bank's strategic plan, goals and objectives.
Leads and develops a team of marketers and communicators who are creative, collaborative, accountable, metric-driven and deliver results.
Works cross-functionally with key stakeholders in the business, sales and product functions to ensure that marketing efforts are aligned with the product roadmap, revenue initiatives, and the overall growth strategy of the business.
Leads the customer relationship management (CRM) strategy and delivers a comprehensive marketing strategy across all of Independent Bank's business lines.
Partners closely with sales and products teams to gather insights on customer requirements and to develop effective customer messaging.
Provides marketing analytics, demand generation, and building marketing campaigns for our external audiences.
Creates a results-oriented, actionable and profitability-based marketing roadmap to meet business goals. Manages and monitors marketing resources and spend to ensure each action is optimized in its effectiveness, quality, and that there is a clear mindset of measurement (ROI) within the team.
Evolves and strengthens Independent Bank's value proposition and brand awareness through marketing and communication strategies to educate, inform and engage customers and the communities we serve with consistency across marketing channels and tactics.
Understands digital customer trends, behaviors and insights in banking, including a thorough understanding of bank systems, data sources, data analytics, and customer behaviors to build and actionable marketing strategies/strategic plans. Develops and implements marketing strategies to meet customers' financial and lifestyle needs through digital channels.
Defines and implements operational metrics, KPIs, customer surveys, net promoter score (NPS) and other measurements of success that measure, optimize and continually improve efficiency and effectiveness of marketing programs, tactics, and strategy.
Understands the competitive market environment and Independent Bank's opportunities with insights and market research.
Develops a comprehensive customer strategy in support of both acquisition and retention segments. Analyzes market data, trends, consumer preferences, and competitor behavior to optimize marketing strategies.
Establishes communications policies, positions and standards and act as gatekeeper for the IB brand messaging in all marketing communications and collateral materials.
Supports all external communication needs and partners with Human Resources to ensure that employees communications are aligned with the corporate brand and mission. Additionally is a key member of the Urgent Communications Team who manages communications for the companies critical incidents and crisis management.
8+ years leading integrated marketing strategies, particularly within an organization with multiple business lines.
Experience in the banking industry is preferred, but not required.
Excellent communications skills, including interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal.
Energetic, forward-thinking and creative with excellent relationship management skills.
Strong analytical, big picture thinking and leadership skills to develop marketing campaigns aimed at increasing customer loyalty and retention.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
Track record of successfully leading all facets of marketing, including demand generation, brand, creative, product marketing, content marketing, communications/PR, events and analytics.
Proven ability to analyze reports, dashboards, data, business metrics and other tools to make critical decisions and recommendations that align to the bank's strategies and supports the bank's objectives.
Experience with sales and marketing budgets, P&L and forecasting.
Strong business and financial acumen; must be able to think about issues from a business perspective.
Self-starter with the ability to work effectively across all functions within the organization, as well as a capacity of communicating with a diverse range of individuals. Possesses participative management style with strong collaborative skills.
Demonstrated ability to bring new products to market, create new categories, generate buzz and demand.
