Purpose of Position
The Global Communication and Marketing Specialist (GCMS) collaborates with all WKU Global units to establish and implement customer-focused market-driven global communication strategies. The GCMS will help shape the campus and public positive perceptions of WKU's international student and global learning recruitment, activities, and engagement. The GMCS will determine the market-appropriate modality, including various social media, e-communications, print, advertising and public relations tactics. Effective communication to non-US audiences, including non-English speakers is essential to the success of WKU Global. The GCMS reports to the Director of Global Learning Admissions and Recruitment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Global Communication and Marketing Specialist collaborates closely with WKU Global leadership and units to develop and implement a responsive, customer-orientated marketing and communications plan. The GCMS will keep WKU Global communications persistent, responsive, and sensitive to WKU's target markets both local and global. The GCMS will track and evaluate messaging effectiveness and modify messages, modalities, and systems to effectively communicate with students and stakeholders.
Customer and Stakeholder Communications
Collaborate with WKU Global leadership to identify targeted, key customers and stakeholders;
Persistent communication with key customers, e.g. prospective international students;
Deploy effective modalities to communicate with customers and support strong customer service engagement for WKU Global units;
Constantly evaluate and modify messaging to meet communication goals; and
Prepare regular features highlighting WKU Global activities.
Customer Service and Stakeholder Support
Learn and anticipate customer needs, expectations and technological capacity - especially those from targeted non-US cultures;
Design and implement appropriate protocols and technologies that enable WKU Global staff to deliver the most effective communication and customer service;
Understand the needs, expectations and technological capacity of our stakeholders and support them to develop protocols that best serve them; and
Proactive communications during emergencies.
Web, Publications, E-comms Development
Create and maintain WKU Global websites;
Design and create publications, both electronic and print for WKU Global;
Collaborate with WKU Global units to design, create and maintain consistent and effective communications; and
Collaborate with University Communications and Marketing to ensure consistent and compliant application of University branding and communications protocols.
Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success
Curiosity to explore and engage cultural nuances of different audiences;
Experience developing and implementing marketing and communications strategy;
Strong and creative graphic design skills;
Effective oral and written communication skills; and
Attention to detail.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field
A minimum of two years full or part-time progressive experience in communications, marketing, design, international education, international business or related field
Experience studying or living abroad or working in a multicultural environment
Demonstrated ability to design and implement marketing plan
Proficiency with computer design and communications applications
Valid driver's license
Valid passport.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $39,100 - $45,000
